Castles in Scotland have long been associated with ghosts, spirits and things that go bump in the night. This is hardly surprising considering that the history of these castles often stretches back many centuries. Scotland's history as a troubled land is known to us all - a country that has been beset by feudal clan wars in addition the bloody struggle for independence against the 'Auld enemy - England. Scotland's castles therefore harbour many stories of intrigue and fighting and in our research we have found it difficult to make a short list - there are so many great stories and legends!
